UPDATE|Suspect In Kerr’s Redi Mix Theft Case Now Identified

Chief Kirk Blankenship responded to a call to Kerr’s Redi-Mix the morning of April 4, 2016. It was discovered that several items used on cement trucks had been stolen. According to surveillance videos, the theft took place at around 5:30 pm the previous day. Chief Blankenship began the investigative process by reaching out to the public for information. Chief Blankenship was also able to identify and two possible suspects in relation to the theft from Kerr’s.

On Monday, Chief Investigator Randy Mayorga continued the investigation and began working closely with Etowah County Investigator Jeremy Lassetter and was able to locate the same suspect with the suspected truck involved in the Investigation.

Lassetter was able to reach out to resources and find one of the same identified suspects of the burglary burglary along with the majority of the items initially reported stolen.

The suspect, identified as 51 year old Eric Summerville of Rainbow City is currently in custody at the Cherokee County Detention Center charged with the burglary.

Chief Blankenship would like commend Inv. Mayorga in following the leads after returning back to work from a week long class that kept him out of work.

Blankenship would also like to extend gratitude to Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Department K-9 Officer Will Farley and Investigator Jeremy Lassetter for their efforts in assisting us in this investigation that lead to the apprehension and recovery of the items stolen.

Chief Blankenship stated that there is more to follow up on and any other help from the community is still well needed in the investigation of this case.
