The name of the man fatally injured in a Friday afternoon wreck, near the Etowah/Calhoun County line, has now been released.

Etowah County Coroner Michael Head identified the victim as 29 year old Anthony Ramone James of College Park, Georgia. James was killed when his Honda Accord was involved in an accident with an 18 wheeler on Alabama Highway 77 near Louise Avenue in Southside, just prior to 12:30pm.

It took around an hour-and-a-half to extricate the truck driver from the cab of the truck and traffic was shut down for several hours, as crews worked to clear away debris, and clean up the scene.

That wreck remains under investigation.
