A fire at the Bay Springs Campground destroyed three campers earlier this morning. 9-1-1 received the call at around 7:45 reporting the blaze, Leesburg, Sand Rock and Centre Firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
Leesburg Fire Chief Joe Sonaty said that when his department arrived on the scene one of the campers was already on the ground and the fire had quickly spread to two others.
There were a total of four propane bottles between two of the campers that burst during the fire, fortunately there were no injuries as there was no one inside any of the campers at the time the fire started.
Cherokee Electric Co-Op Crews also responded to shut off power to the campground while firefighters worked to put out hot spots and cleanup.
It is not known at this time exactly what may caused the initial fire to start, the incident is currently under investigation.
