Town Of Cedar Bluff Approves Grant For New Playground Equipment

The Cedar Bluff Town Park will soon be seeing some much anticipated upgrades, during the Town Council’s meeting on Monday the Council gave the ok to apply for a 50/50 Grant that will be used to purchase new playground equipment from Gametime in Fort Payne.

Mayor Tammy Crane said that this is one of the reasons she ran for office was to see to the park grow and become more appeasing to the residents of the town. The new piece of equipment will  feature five slides, swings, monkey bars and will accommodate over 100 kids at a time.

Crane said that she is very appreciative to the council for their support with this project and says that she is very excited to see the completed product.

In other business the Council approved quarterly reports from Police Chief Steve Walden, Assistant Fire Chief Bradley Kiser as well as the Town’s Building Inspector Alpha Chumbler.

Brief discussion was also given concerning the changing of Building Permit Fees with no action taken on the matter, the Council also approved the holiday schedule and council meeting dates for 2016.

Mayor Crane announced that several town employees including some of the council members have been working very diligently in replacing light bulbs in the town’s Christmas lights in preparation for them to be placed throughout the park, the official lighting of the park is set to take place on November 21st, Mayor Crane also announced the official date for Liberty Day 2016, which is set for June 25th.

Councilman Norman Burton briefly discussed whether or not the Council wanted to approve a small raise for the Mayor and Council Members for the next year, if approved the raise will NOT affect the present Council and Mayor and will not go into effect until after the upcoming election.

Councilman Dewayne Agan brought some good news to those that been concerned with the timetable of the paving project in the town, Agan said that pending weather conditions crews are expected to begin work on Tuesday preparing the roads for paving, Councilman Agan went onto say that hopefully everything will be completed in approximately two weeks, again that’s pending weather conditions.
