A DeKalb County Corrections Officer has been arrested on charges of Tampering with Government Records.

According to Sheriff Jimmy Harris, 32 year old Nicholas Butler if Scottsboro was arrested by Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson.

Sheriff Harris said that this has been an ongoing investigation with the Department of Homeland Security and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Butler has been relieved of his duties at the DeKalb County Detention Center.

Chief Jail Administrator Matt Martin said that due to this being an ongoing investigation with the Sheriff’s Office and homeland security, there is a possibility of more charges, however No further details about this case are being released at this time.
Sheriff Harris said that this is an extremely unfortunate incident and that investigators and homeland security are doing everything possible to bring an end to this case.
