Northwest Georgia law enforcement officials continue to investigate a reported case of “hit and run” occurring over the weekend.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says a female pedestrian was struck on Ridgeway Road shortly after 10:00pm Saturday; she was taken to Floyd Medical Center in Rome to be checked for possible head injuries.

Dispatchers had originally called for Erlanger’s LifeForce Helicopter; however, the chopper was unavailable due to weather conditions.

No additional information regarding the situation – such as a description of the vehicle that struck the woman was noted on the report and no additional information regarding the extent of her injuries has been made available.
