Gadsden Captain D’s Robbed Sunday Night

Captain D's 2The Meighan Boulevard location of Captain D’s in Gadsden was robbed at around midnight Sunday.

Employees told police that a short black male, with short dreadlocks – believed to be in his 20’s – forced his way into the restaurant; the man, who was wearing a red bandana around his neck, and a flat-billed Pittsburg Pirates ball cap, was armed with a handgun, and he was demanding money from the safe.

The two employees on duty – a 24 year old male and an 18 year old female – stated that the suspect got away with about $450 in cash; before fleeing, the robber told the workers to go into the walk-in freezer and stay there for at least 20 minutes – reportedly saying “…I’m not going to kill you.”; fortunately the man was as good as his word and no one was hurt during the incident.

The man apparently fled out the back door – which is where the employees found their cell phones.

The matter remains under investigation.
