Rome firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched to Lewis Chemical on Sycamore Street early Wednesday morning in reference to a chemical vapor leak.
Rome Fire Department Batallion Chief Phil Litton said the leak resulted in the evacuation of residents within a half mile radius of the plant.
The leak was repaired by 3:30am and residents were permitted to return to their homes.
