Centre Police Investigator Narrowly Escapes Injury After Accidental Discharge

An Officer with the Centre Police Department very luckily escaped injury on Tuesday evening after the gun  of the Reserve Officer he was Training accidentally discharged at the Police Firing Range in Cedar Bluff.

Investigator Randy Mayorga who is the City’s Certified Firearms Instructor told WEIS Radio News that he suffered minor cuts to his leg after the pistol of the Reserve Officer he was certifying accidentally discharged as he was holstering the gun.

The bullet struck the concrete pad he was standing on causing pieces of concrete to hit Mayorga in the leg.

Cherokee EMS Paramedics examined Mayorga and afterwards he immediately returned to work.
