WEIS Radio News has received numerous complaints regarding the wait time that motorists are being forced to endure during road construction currently underway in Leesburg.

The road work being done along Highways 68 and 411 has reportedly resulted in wait times that range from four or five minutes up to 45 minutes according to some callers.

On Friday (June 6th) we spoke with Tony Harris with the State DOT regarding the situation and he informed us that the wait time is determined by what type work is actually taking place at that time – adding that naturally, the wait times can vary considerably under those circumstances.

Harris said the actual flow of traffic would be under the supervision of the job foreman or on-site supervisor. That work is being performed by McCartney Construction out of Gadsden.

All motorists planning on traveling through Leesburg along 68 or 411 – should give themselves extra time to get where they’re going.
