Stever is planning to move to Nashville in the near future and has already been working there for some time; when asked about the difference in writing and performing in Canada as compared to the USA, the deep south in particular Stever’s good natured sense of humor came through during this exchange with WEIS Radio’s Jerry Baker

Canadian country artist Jamie Stever injects his unique charisma and energy into the country music scene one song at a time. Originally from Kingston, ON Jamie has his roots firmly planted now on the northern shores of Lake Ontario in Prince Edward County. Jamie is easily recognized by the twinkle in his eye, the flash of his smile and the signature baseball cap pulled down over his brow. Dig deep into Jamie’s music and you will find that his interest in writing and performing started to take shape at the age of 14, when his older brother brought home a friend’s guitar. It didn’t take long for Jamie to borrow the instrument and soon realize that music was his life’s calling. Although his listening preference was rock during those formative years, Jamie didn’t shy away from the various genres as he was constantly on the hunt for music that was different and challenging.

After studying classical guitar at Cambrian College in Sudbury ON, Jamie returned to his roots and the country genre that resonated with him. While honing his craft as a professional musician, Jamie began to align himself with hit writers and establish that he could be a skilled songwriter as well. Industry executives and media outlets north and south of the border quickly became aware that Jamie could write and perform hit songs.

When asked what comes first, the music or the lyrics, Jamie’s typical response is “the title.” Jamie believes that “the craft of writing is finding a way to get your title across to the listener in a clever way that hasn’t already been explored.” He has many instrumental ideas “locked up on the back burner;” when looking for a particular sound Jamie “goes to the vault!”

Having written with hit songwriters Brian G.White (“Watching You” by Rodney Atkins) Steve Pasch (Lenny Kravitz/ Gretchen Wilson), Jayce Hein (Jason Aldean), Joel Shewmake (Brad Paisley, Montgomery Gentry) Pete Sallis (Philip Philips) and Bruce Wallace (Montgomery Gentry). Jamie’s new and soon to be released album PRETTY GOOD START was recorded at Legends Studio in Nashville, TN. Produced by Brian G. White, the album was engineered by Dan Friszell (Craig Morgan, Jason Aldean). The first single, “Sweet Sweet Summertime” was released to country radio nationwide in summer of 2012, received heavy rotation and earned a respective spot on charts with Jamie doing a cross Canada radio and promotion tour. Not to be outdone, CBC Music.ca came on board headlining, “Jamie Stever, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock – Country Songs That Celebrate Summer.” Other acts in the post included Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Taylor Swift.

An ardent supporter for the benefit and health care of children, Jamie has raised funds for QHC Belleville (ON), Five Counties Children’s Centre (Peterborough, ON), and The Prince Edward Hospital Foundation (Picton, ON) by partnering up with the Ontario Hockey League and selling his music.

Jamie’s single “No One’s Stronger Than A Mother” led him to a partnership with MADD “Mothers Against Drunk Driving.” With more than 100 chapters, 7,500 volunteers and community leaders across Canada, the organization’s mission statement is to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.

“Drinking and driving is a universal issue that has touched all of us. I am happy to support such a great organization by bringing awareness through my music and song” –Jamie Stever

Jamie’s newest Single “Make My Day” will be released in Canada as well as the USA with North American tour to follow.
