DeKalb County Corrections Officer Fired

A DeKalb County Corrections Officer has been fired.

According to Sheriff Jimmy Harris, a joint investigation was launched on September 25th, by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, United States Immigration & Customs Enforcement and Office of Professional Responsibility – concerning a complaint from a detainee stating that $325 in cash was missing from his property after being booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center.

As a result of the investigation, 28 year old John Weston Culpepper of Dawson was placed under arrest on November 20th and charged with Theft of Property 3rd Degree.

Culpepper was a corrections officer at the facility at the time of the incident and arrest and he has since been terminated from his position there.

He was booked into the detention center on bond of $1,500.
