Women’s Club of Weiss Lake Donates $1,000 for Gadsden State Cherokee Scholarship

The Women’s Club of Weiss Lake recently established an annual scholarship for a deserving Gadsden State Community College student. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying female student at the college and may be used toward the cost of tuition, books, fees, or any expense charged to students by the college.

The Women’s Club of Weiss Lake is a community service organization which serves the residents of Cherokee County and its aim is to enhance the quality of living in the community. The club members include residents from throughout the county many of whom are semi-retired professionals. In addition to funding scholarships, the organization donates to area food banks, provides in-service training for workshops on ADHD, and sponsors free community educational programs.

Female students who wish to apply for the scholarship must be residents of Cherokee County and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship may be renewed annually throughout the duration of the student’s training contingent upon their maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA and the availability of funds.
