A former employee of the Cherokee County Detention Facility has been arrested.

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver – a warrant was issued for Rebecca Alyse Cuddy of Centre after an investigation revealed that she had committed the offense of Promoting Prison Contraband.

Cuddy, age 33, had served as a corrections officer at the facility before resigning her position.

She was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center and was later released on $500 bond on the misdemeanor charge.

The investigation, which is on-going is being conducted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office.
