Anniston Police Investigating Convenience Store Shooting

AL-AnnistonPD

An Anniston convenience store owner is recovering from a gunshot wound he sustained during a robbery at his business early Friday morning.

Police say the 38-year-old man was shot in the torso around midnight at Black’s Grocery and More, located in the 700 block of West 15th Street.

Reports indicate three suspects went to the business and told the store owner he was being robbed. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

The store owner got into a scuffle with the suspects, and one of them fired the gun, hitting the victim.

The victim fled the store and drove to his nearby home, where he fell on the floor and told his mother he’d been shot.

He was taken to Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

At last report, he was in stable condition.

The suspects fled before police arrived at the store.

When caught they will likely face felony charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree assault.
