Mrs. Martha Wood Garrett

Mrs. Martha Wood Garrett, 75 of Centre, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Mullaney and Rev. Tommy Ledbetter officiating. Interment will be Sunday at 2 P.M. in the Garrett Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Centre First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Garrett was born January 2, 1938 to Dwight and Waynie Wood. On April 2, 1961 she married her soul mate and the love of her life, Billy Mack Garrett of Centre. She worked in the Banking Industry from 1959 until retiring from the Southern Bank Company as the branch manager of the Centre Bank and Vice President of the Bank. She was a Methodist all her life and belonged to the Centre First United Methodist Church and the Ralph Bates Sunday school class.

Martha is survived by her Husband Billy Mack Garrett, her three sons that were her greatest treasures, David (Lisa) Garrett and Sid (Aimee) Garrett of Centre and Wayne (Keri) Garrett of Fort Payne. Her Lone remaining sister is Sue Hurley of Cedar Bluff. She is survived by seven grandchildren; David’s children, Caden and Carson Garrett, Sid’s children, Isabelle, Meredith and Grant Garrett, and Wayne’s children, Dawson and Cooper Garrett. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Waynie Ringer Wood; Sisters, Kathryn Wood, Louise Jordan and Virginia Steed; Brothers, Frank and Hoyt Wood; In-Laws, Mack and Villeta Garrett.

Pallbearers: Billy Baker, Charles Brannon, H. Dean Buttram Jr., David James, Wallace Lyons, Johnny Roberts, and Bob Peden.

Honorary Pallbearers: members of the Ralph Bates Sunday School Class.
