The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department was called to a residence on Filter Plant Road after a homeowner called 9-1-1 in reference to a vehicle that was sitting on his property.  

When law enforcement arrived, they asked the 18 year old – identified as James Michael Mincey of a Simmons Street address in Trion – about the Chevrolet truck, and just why he was parked on the man’s property.  

The teenager told deputies that the truck belonged to his brother – and, he was waiting for him to come pick him up.  

Deputies tried to locate the brother, but he was never found.  

Mincey was placed under arrest for underage consumption of alcohol after he took a breathalyzer test and tested positive for alcohol.  After transporting him to the Chattooga County Jail, deputies learned that authorities here in Cherokee County, had reported the truck that Mincey was driving, as being stolen.

Chattooga County authorities also learned that the truck had been taken without permission from Jerry Wofford of Gaylesville.

Wofford came to Filter Plant Road with a Cherokee County deputy and retrieved his vehicle.  

Mincey was then additionally charged with bringing stolen property into the state.
