Reports have now been released regarding a weekend shooting in Rome.

According to Lt. Gary Clayton interviews with witnesses are still on-going following the Sunday morning shooting incident on Crane Street, where Alfred Jamal Echols, age 20 sustained a single gunshot wound to the thigh.

Reports stated that at 2:12am the victim was found lying face down in the street.

When police arrived, Echols had already been taken to Floyd Medical Center, by another witness on the scene. While officers investigated the crime scene, an investigator visited the victim in the emergency room.

In a statement Echols told the officer that he was walking along Crane Street with his sister when he was shot from behind in the thigh. Witnesses have said that a Ford Expedition was in the area at the time and may be connected to the incident in some way.

No arrests have yet been made, but police are looking for a person of interest in the case.

Echols remains in the hospital but is expected to be okay.

Rome Police are currently searching for a 21 year old man in connection with a shooting incident over the weekend that left one man injured.

Police Lt. Gary Clayton says his department is looking for Marcquell Williams – who could very well be facing felony charges including aggravated assault, aggravated battery, the possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and reckless conduct.

20 year old Alfred Jamal Echols told police he was shot in the thigh around 2:00am Sunday as he was walking down Crane Street with his sister.
