One person is dead following an incident on Weiss Lake Saturday.
According to reports, at around 4 p.m. Cedar Bluff Police and Fire responded to a call of a possible drowning in the area of County Road 700 near County Road 92 north of Cedar Bluff.
The man, identified as Donald E. Barnes of Centre, was pulled from the water and was transported by personal vehicle to the waiting ambulance.
He was taken to Cherokee Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
Barnes was part of a group that had ridden four-wheelers to the water, which authorities estimate was only about 4 and a-half feet deep in the area where he went under.
Police could not say at this time if Barnes had died as a result of drowning or a possible medical condition.
Earlier on Saturday, in a separate incident, the Cedar Bluff Fire Department Medical Unit and Cherokee EMS responded to the public boat ramp on the Chattooga River off Highway 68 east of Cedar Bluff.
A man had apparently fallen in a boat and injured his leg.
He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
That incident occurred at around noon.
