Manhunt In The County Road 51 Area Comes Up Short

A commotion in the Faril community on County Road 51 on Tuesday evening, created more than a little interest among nearby residents – but all the excitement apparently came to nothing as the search for a fugitive from Georgia came up short.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver told WEIS Radio News that Cherokee County Deputies were assisting the US Marshal’s Service in trying locate the unnamed suspect; earlier in the day the Southeast Regional Task Force, had requested assistance in locating that individual – who reportedly had outstanding warrants in connection with several burglaries in the Rome area.

Sheriff Shaver stated that (quote) “the subject was not believed to be a danger to area residents.”

Officers in a helicopter assisted agents on the ground however the search was unsuccessful – and agents with the Marshal’s Service felt that the individual had already fled the area.
