Members of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the successes of the past year and looked ahead into the future during their annual meeting Tuesday night at Gadsden State Cherokee.
Executive Director Theresa Hulgan presented to Chairman’s Plaque to 2012-2013 Chairman Johnny Roberts in appreciation for his service.
Roberts then passed the ceremonial gavel to 2013-2014 President Wae Ellis.
Also Tuesday, The Chatokee Lodge in Gaylesville was presented the chamber’s Beautification Award, which goes each to a business that has made a special effort in building, renovating or revamping their business’s physical appearance.
Kurt Duryea was the recipient of the Estelle S. Smith Community Service Award, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate dedication of time and money to support activities promoting Cherokee County.
Don Coley was presented with the Mary George Waite Spirit Award, given to those who demonstrate “spirit” of cooperation, fostering of ideals, and dedication to the Community.
And Dave Crum was honored with the Chairman’s Merit Award.
This award is given to individuals who, through their business acumen, advance Cherokee County’s economic climate. They have proved to be community spirited by working with other organizations to develop long range community projects.
Those in attendance at Tuesday’s annual meeting were treated to a seafood buffet provided by Pat’s Perfections and entertainment from magician Joe M. Turner.
