Weekend Drug Arrests In Dekalb

Three people were arrested over the weekend on drug charges in Dekalb County.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states that on Sunday, Deputies went to a residence in the Whitton community on the south end of the County, due to citizens complaints of chemical odors coming from a trailer.

When the Deputies pulled up to the residence they did detect a chemical odor. Deputies found a white bag with products of a meth lab, and contacted the Drug Task Force.

The residence was secured and Amy Lynn Shanefelt, age 33 of Albertville, and Mary Rachel Waller, age 43 of Geraldine, were detained until the Drug Task Force could get to the residence with a search warrant.

The Drug Task Force found three 1 pot meth labs, Drug Paraphernalia, along with ingredience for manufacturing meth, in the trailer.

Agents also discovered a dumpster on the property and found 7 more 1 pot meth labs.

Shanefelt and Waller were arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 2nd, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

In a separate incident, a Deputy went to a residence on Hwy 176 on Lookout Mountain to serve a felony warrant.

When the Deputies entered the residence they noticed a chemical smell and immediately got consent to search the residence.

As they walked through they found some marijuana in a clear baggie, a glass pipe, Methamphetamine, 1 syringe, 1 metal spoon, several coffee filters and baggies.

The Drug Task Force was notified, and Joni Alajean Posey, age 34 of Fort Payne, was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 2nd, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana 2nd.
