Beer License Approved For Strawberry Festival
During the regular meeting of the Piedmont City Council Tuesday evening, the council approved the application for the sale of beer at the Strawberry Festival in Piedmont on May 13th. Kevin Cunningham of Pinhoti Properties, LLC spoke about the event and why approving the sale of beer at the event would be good for the city and the Strawberry Festival.
The council reappointed Keisha Mitchell to the city’s school board. Mayor Baker said she had served on the board and made a good member.
Police Chief Nathan Johnson gave the police department report for the month of March with 66 arrests on 77 misdemeanor charges and 14 felony charges. Officers conducted 834 officer initiated contacts with the public, issued 43 traffic citations, and worked 6 traffic accidents. Officers were dispatched on 299 calls for service, which resulted in 105 reports being filed with officers patrolling 8,994 miles.
The Dispatch Center received 2140 phone calls, dispatched 378 rescue calls, 87 fire calls, and 6 after-hour utility calls. Court collections for the month totaled $17,709.67 with the city retaining $6544.96.
Fire Chief Cale Donaldson gave the department’s report for March with 8 calls for hazardous condition (no fire), 8 service calls, 7 fire, 6 good intent calls, 5 false alarms, 1 special incident and 51 rescue and emergency medical service incidents.
The Piedmont City Council regularly meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.
