LINCOLN – Piedmont’s boys came in fourth place with 65 points and the Lady Bulldogs finished sixth with 54 points at the Class 3A, Section 3 track and field meet in Lincoln on Friday and Saturday.
Weaver won the boys meet with 147 total points. J.B. Pennington topped the girls meet with 147 total points.
Pacing Piedmont’s boys was Ishmael Bethel, who finished first in the high jump (6-06.00) and third in the long jump (20-05).
The Bulldog boys 4×400 relay came in first with a time of 3:32.47.
John David Taylor took fourth in the 400m run (51.83). Elijah Young came in fourth in the javelin (145-05). Christian Melendez was fourth in the pole vault (8-06.00), and Om Patel finished fifth in the pole vault (8-06).
Mattie Todd led the Lady Bulldogs with first-place finishes in the 800m run (2:37.47), 1600m run (6:01.30), and 3200m run (13:15.13).
Katie Brown took first in the 300m hurdles (52.66) and third in the high jump (4-10.00). Allie Haynes finished fourth in the 100m hurdles (18.29).
The Lady Bulldogs’ 4x800m relay team took second (8:38.72).
Class 4A, Section 3
LINCOLN – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors finished sixth and the Warrior boys finished 14th with eight points in the Class 4A, Section 3 track and field meet at Lincoln on Friday and Saturday.
Westminster Christian won the 4A girls meet with 89 total points. Anniston topped the boys sectional with 143 total points.
Leading the Lady Warriors was Shamiya McElrath. She finished second in the 100m dash (12.66), second in the 200m dash (25.88), and fourth in the 400m dash (1:01.60).
Marie Crane came in second in the javelin (103-00) and Ashton Pruitt was second in the shot put (34-06).
Bryce Gaudreau led the Warrior boys in the ambulatory events with first place in the 200m dash ambulatory (31.08). He also had a 14.60 time in the 100m dash.
Daniel Burton competed in the discus ambulatory (39-09) shot put ambulatory (15-09.00).
