Mr. James “Dicky” Walker, Sr., age 85 of Centre, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, April 23 at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Pollard, Rev. Zach Richards, and Rev. Eugene Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 11 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheri (Terry) Penny; Sons, Roland Marshall, Richard Walker, Patrick (Jenna) Walker; Sister-in-law, Judy Mixon; Special friend, Peggy Hale; 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Tommy McDaniel, Greg Rosser, Johnny Jordan, K.D. Frost, Steve Smith, Gerald Rieger, Alan Singleton, and Daniel Singleton.
Honorary pallbearers are the Partners in Christ Sunday School Class.
Mr. Walker was born to the late Herbert and Buna Walker in Birmingham, AL. He enjoyed serving the Lord and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for 38 years where he served on several committees and taught Sunday school. Dickie loved working outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He graduated from Walter Wellborn High School in 1958. He retired from Monsanto in 1996 after 36 years. After retirement, he worked at Walmart for another 17 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Walker, and his daughter, Ann Singleton.
