Centre- WEIS Radio’s very own, Owner and Manager Jerry Baker was recognized last night at the 79th Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting. Baker was awarded the Chairman’s Merit Award.

A description of the awards states: “ Founded in 1946 as the Centre Area Chamber of Commerce, it was reorganized in 1993 as  a sponsor/member  based organization. Partnering with Gadsden State Community College in 2009, the chamber was housed in its current location on the Gadsden State Cherokee Campus. As the chamber began to grow, leaders emerged. Such were honored with the prized, Chairman’s Merit Award.

Some previous winners include: WA Ells, Jr the first in 2000, Jerry Culberson, Ed Mackey, Al Shumaker, Wallace Lyons, Melvin Salter, and others. Mr Baker is the 26th winner of the award, congrats to Mr. Jerry Baker.
