The City Council of Cedar Bluff met Monday afternoon with their workshop starting at 5 p.m. and meeting to follow at 5:30. After the meeting was called to order the minutes from the previous meeting and financial reports from February and March were approved. Police Chief Jeremy Stepps gave the monthly police report which included arrest made, warnings given, miles patrolled and other information.
The Fire Department presented their monthly report which included a breakdown of incidents that have occurred during the month of March. The Cedar Bluff fire department faced a total of 54 incidents for the month of March.
For the new business the council approved for the town-owed tractor to be rebuilt for the cost of $3,250. They also approved $1596.00 for fire truck repair along with donating $400.00 to the Melton Memorial egg hunt and $350.00 to the Civitan Club Flag Project. The council also voted to surplus some of the police department’s older shotguns so they can be sold. They also voted to give the Mayor the authority to sign a lease with a Cell phone company for the use of the tower.
The council set a special public hearing to be held May 5th to hear from the public on the issue of zoning ordinance. The issue of the State Marshal’s fire inspection was then discussed.
