The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of scam phone calls from individuals falsely claiming to be law enforcement officers. These scammers are using deceptive tactics to appear legitimate, including:
Claiming to be deputies or investigators—sometimes using real names. Alleging you have active warrants, unpaid citations, or missed court appearances. “Spoofing” our official phone numbers to seem authentic. Demanding immediate payment or personal information over the phone.IMPORTANT: Law Enforcement (State, Local or Federal) will never call to demand money or threaten arrest!
If you receive a suspicious call:
