Spring Garden’s Edwards blanks Gaylesville in Class 1A, Area 12 baseball series opener

SPRING GARDEN – Zane Edwards tossed a two-hit shutout on the mound and was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and five RBIs in leading the Spring Garden Panthers to a 10-0 win in five innings over Class 1A, Area 12 rival Gaylesville on Tuesday.

Hayes Garmon went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, a walk and a run for the Panthers. Clayton Sadler also contributed two hits and drove in a run. Joel Hunter had a hit and scored three runs. Connor Bates delivered a hit, two runs, and a RBI.

Brady Ruark scored a pair of runs. John Welsh and Kaden Wood both scored a run apiece. Carson Bostick drew a walk.

Cole Hendon and Hayden Dodd both delivered a hit for the Trojans. Landon Chumbler and Aydn Heinrich both drew a walk.

Collin Hendon suffered the loss. He worked four innings and gave up four earned runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

The series shifts to Gaylesville on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
