Leesburg- The Town Council of Leesburg met Monday April 7, 2025 for their monthly meeting to discuss town business. Council members Brewster, Sonaty, Tillery, Rodriguez, and Mayor Brandy Pierce were all present for the meeting. The planning session took place at 4:30pm with the general meeting to follow at 5pm.
After the pledge of allegiance and invocation the first order of businesses was to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. The next item on the agenda was review of previous expenditures. A motion was made, seconded and passed to pay the monthly expenditures.
Under old business a motion was made, seconded and passed to approve the rental of a Side-Arm mower. A motion was also made, seconded and passed to declare the city-owned Side-Arm mower as surplus.
The council was asked to approve a Range Rover seized in a narcotics arrest as surplus so it can be sold for revenue for the department. A motion was made, seconded and passed to declare the vehicle as surplus.
The council approved Ordinance #2025 which would allow the police to tow a vehicle when the driver is found to be operating without a valid driver’s license or without proof of insurance.
Motions were made, seconded and pass to purchase a new digital sign for the city and two new fire helmets for the Fire Department. Motions were also made, seconded and passed to purchase a sponsorship package for the upcoming Chamber Rodeo, replace the discontinued decorative lights in the Taylor Ridge subdivision at the cost of $2400.00 with standard lighting, and to approve the purchase of a push bumper for Chief Brisendine’s Tahoe. Mayor Pierce made a few brief comments about some upcoming events then a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
