Guntersville Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A Joint Investigation Conducted by Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Culminated in the approval of a search warrant involving a residence on Lake Breeze Dr. in Guntersville on 04/01/2025.
During the investigation, a suspect was identified that resides on Lake Breeze Dr. MCSO Investigators made contact with the subject prior to executing the search warrant and a vehicle pursuit ensued, ending in the driveway of the residence on Lake Breeze Dr.
Upon completion of executing the search warrant, Gary Stephen Greenwell, 66, of Guntersville was arrested on charges of Attempting to Elude a Police Officer (Felony), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree, and 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Mr. Greenwell was transported to the Marshall County jail. Bond has been set at $1.7 million. Greenwell was previously convicted in Michigan in 1993 in reference to crimes against children. As a result of those convictions, he is currently registered as a sex offender in Marshall County.

“We are involved with the ICAC Task Force and when we get information on these type of crimes being committed in Marshall County, we will not hesitate to take immediate action. As soon as we received this information, our investigators obtained a search warrant for this individual’s residence and recovered numerous images and marijuana. When faced with these circumstances, Greenwell choose to flee in a vehicle, but was apprehended by investigators and patrol units. We appreciated the assistance from all of the agencies above.”
