Shana Spring Bennett has been charged with abuse and neglect of her impaired adult daughter. DHR first raised concerns about the health of Ms Bennett’s daughter to the authorities in February.

Authorities did a wellness check at Ms. Bennett’s home in the Egypt community. They discovered that Ms. Bennett’s daughter, who is greatly impaired and can’t speak, was in severe need of help.

Medical personal found pressure sores and feeding tube that had not been maintained along with other health concerns. She was transported to UAB hospital.

Ms. Bennett was taken into custody and charged with felony neglect which she later admitted to in a court hearing. Ms. Bennett was booked into the Etowah County Detention center. The case is still on going if you have any information please contact the Etowah County Sheriff’s office.
