Area residents continue to be harassed by Scammers calling to tell them they have outstanding warrants for their arrest. The scammers say they are calling from the Marshall’s Service or the Sheriff’s Department to inform them of this situation. But they can avoid being arrested by wiring money to an account or by sending money via money grams or cash apps.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver tells WEIS Radio News this is ongoing problem and if you get a phone call of this nature, someone posing as A Law Enforcement Official asking for money or your bank information, or any other personal info, just hang up the phone. Don’t engage the caller, Do Not Send Any Money to anyone You Don’t Know.
