Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton, along with members of his staff, recently attended the National Sheriff’s Association Winter Conference in Washington, D.C. They joined 26 other sheriffs from across Alabama to engage in valuable training sessions and discussions on critical law enforcement issues. One of the key presentations was led by Border Czar Tom Homan, focusing on illegal immigration and its impact on public safety.

During their time in the nation’s capital, Sheriff Horton’s staff met with Senator Katie Britt, Senator Tommy Tuberville, and Congressman Robert Aderholt. These discussions centered on securing funding for special projects and addressing key issues affecting sheriff’s offices throughout Alabama.

Sheriff Horton highlighted the significance of these engagements, stating, “Conferences like this allow us to collaborate with fellow sheriffs, exchange best practices, and tackle challenges that impact law enforcement nationwide. Building strong relationships with our national leaders helps ensure we have the necessary resources to keep our communities safe.”

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to staying informed on national law enforcement challenges and advocating for the tools and support needed to serve and protect the residents of Etowah County.
