SAND ROCK – Ty Traffanstedt sank five 3-pointers, 7-of-8 free throws and finished with a game-high 34 points as the Sand Rock Wildcats held off Sylvania 60-53 on senior night Tuesday.
Traffanstedt also added eight rebounds, two steals and an assist for the Wildcats (16-12). Will Cleere contributed 11 points, eight rebounds and an assist. Wyatt Miller managedseven points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Cam Gifford finished with five points, 10 rebounds, five assists and a steal.
Ethan Kirby connected on four treys and had 12 points for the Rams. Aiden Parham and Bennett Hawes both had 11 points. Finn Turner made two 3-pointers and had eight points. Jake Turner finished with six points.
Sand Rock jumped out to a 20-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Sylvania cut into the Wildcat lead at halftime and trailed 36-30. Sand Rock held a 45-43 edge after three quarters.
Sand Rock is at Fyffe on Thursday.
