The City Council approved advertising for Phase II of the Gymnasium located on the City Property acquired from the Board of Education adjacent to the construction site of the New City Hall. City Building Inspector, Raymond Matthews said the site is ready to move forward to advertise for bids for the project.
The Council approved a list of equipment to be declared surplus by the Police Department and Street and Sanitation Department. The equipment will be sold on Gov.Deals.
Fencing for the new parking lot at Yarbrough Field was approved in the amount of $7945 with Piedmont Fencing getting the job.
A rotary tiller was approved for the Park and Recreation Department in the amount of $2100 with the low price coming from Foothills Tractor of Centre.
The Council adjourned into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing personnel actions. When they went back into regular session, they voted to appoint Tommy Harris as City Prosecutor to replace Brent Morrison who is retiring. Also the City voted to name Attorney Pat Tate as Temporary Acting City Attorney in the absence of longtime City Attorney, Al Shumaker who is experiencing health issues.
The next Centre City Council is scheduled for January 28th at 5:00pm.
