ANNISTON – John Welsh tossed in a game-high 30 points to lead the top-ranked Spring Garden Panthers past Faith Christian 76-40 in boys area basketball action on Tuesday evening.
Noah Barber netted 16 points for the Panthers (20-0), including four 3-pointers. Connor Bates contributed 15 points, including three treys. Zane Edwards finished with eight points – all in the fourth quarter – including a pair of 3-pointers.
Parker Robertson topped the Lions with 22 points. Colin Anderson added 10 points. Both players sank a pair of treys.
Spring Garden held a 24-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 36-26 at the break. The Panthers pushed their lead to 62-33 at the end of three quarters.
Spring Garden opens Cherokee Tournament play on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Richard Lindsey Arena. The Panthers will take on the winner of Thursday’s Gaylesville-Cedar Bluff contest.
