SPRING GARDEN – John Welsh led four Spring Garden Panthers in double figures with 17 points in a 60-50 basketball win over Southside of Gadsden on Thursday.

Jaylen Brown tossed in 15 points for the Panthers (18-0). Connor Bates and Jake Welsh both scored 11 points. Noah Barber finished with six points on a pair of 3-pointers.

Cayden Reason topped Southside with 16 points, including a pair of treys. Eli Stewart sank four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points.

Southside led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Spring Garden took a 27-25 edge at halftime. Spring Garden extended its lead to 43-37 at the end of three quarters.

Spring Garden travels to Weaver on Monday.
