Stolen Bentley Recovered in Cherokee County

On Saturday, Cherokee County deputies were notified by Cherokee County Central dispatch that a stolen vehicle had passed a license plate reader (LPR) near Cedar Bluff.

Deputy Gavin Johnson located the vehicle and stopped it on Alabama Highway 9, near County Road 51 in the Farrell community. The driver was identified as 34 year old Thomas Cross of Dyersburg, Tennessee.

According to the Dyersburg Police Department, the vehicle was taken 5 days ago from Dyersburg out of an airport hangar.

Deputy Johnson discovered illegal drugs on the driver and he was subsequently charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Cross was additionally charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st degree. He will also be charged in Tennessee in connection to the theft.
