Mrs. Willene Traffanstedt Steele, age 89 of Gadsden, passed away Wednesday December 11th, 2024. God blessed her with “A Wonderful Life” and rang the bell to call His angel home. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Rock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until 2:00PM Saturday at the funeral home.
The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Steele is survived by her daughters, Dr. Debra Joyce Steele (Dr. James Prater), Nancy Duncan (Tommy), and Carol James (Larry); brothers, Tommy Traffanstedt (Sandra) and Ronny Traffanstedt (Wanda); grandchildren, Dr. Jason Prater (Angela), Jameson Prater (Brianne); Dustin Duncan, Dexter Duncan (Casi); Greg James (Stephanie), and Bret James (Alyson); great grandchildren, Houston, Sarah, and Reid Prater; Ayden, Ally, and Audrey Prater; Adrianna Duncan; Dixon and Andi Duncan; Haley and Logan James; Ramsey and Rowan James.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Steele; brothers, L.D. Traffanstedt, U.B. Traffanstedt, and A.V. Traffanstedt; sisters, Eva Mae Weaver, Ila Faye Kirby and Barbara Wallace; and special friend, Opal Duncan.
Willene was the daughter of the late Dewey and Lena Long Traffanstedt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy and Glen Cornelius and neighbors. Also a special thanks to Kristie Graham and caregivers, Helen, Sade, Leah and Cindy.
