MONTGOMERY – Alabama Tourism Department presents the Holiday Activity list for 2024, a combined list of featured holiday events hosted by cities within the state of Alabama. Some of the activities on the list include visiting Christmas villages, ice skating, Christmas parades, drive thru light shows, seasonal film parties, and New Years Eve celebrations. Altoona

Altoona Christmas Parade – Altoona

The annual Altoona Christmas Parade will be held on December 6, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. The parade route will proceed on Main Street. To register your business, church, civic organization, or just want to participate in the parade, please click here [1].

Arab

Santa in the Village – Arab

Experience the magic of Christmas at Santa in the Village at the Arab Historic Village. Each year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, the Village comes to life with millions of Christmas lights along with Santa Claus and the Grinch, too. Holiday activities in the Village include meeting Saint Nick, watching Phillips’ Blacksmith Shop work on reindeer shoes, visiting Mrs. Lola Boyd’s 1890’s Farmhouse for a peek in Santa’s bedroom, and, lastly, stop by Smalley Grist Mill for a bag of fresh reindeer food to take home to Dasher, Dancer and the other seven reindeer. Athens Main Street 14th Annual Sippin’ Cider Festival – Athens

During the Sippin’ Cider Festival, participating merchants prepare and offer complimentary sample tastings of their favorite hot cider recipe. Cider enthusiasts will vote by ballot for their favorite, and the cider receiving the most votes wins the coveted Cider Cup and bragging rights for the year. This is a free event for patrons. Downtown Attalla Christmas Parade & Christmas Tree Lighting – Attalla

Downtown Auburn Holiday Fair and Tree Lighting Ceremony – Auburn

On December 1, join the Auburn Downtown Merchants for a festive, holiday celebration with extended shopping hours, local artists, Santa, tree decorating, train rides, live music, children’s activities and more. Jingle Jog 5k & Santa Stroll – Auburn

The Jingle Jog 5k and Santa Stroll Fun Run are here again – so pull out those Santa hats and ugly sweaters! Join Active Auburn on Saturday, December 7th at 6:30 a.m. and ring in the holiday season in style! Santa on the Corner – Auburn

All the way from the North Pole to Toomer’s Corner, Santa Claus will be visiting on December 7th and 8th at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Santa on the Corner. The Auburn Downtown Merchants Association invites everyone to join this beloved holiday tradition, benefiting United Way of Lee County. HoHoHo Hike & Holiday Celebration – Auburn

On Saturday, December 7th the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center will to turn into a winter wonderland, full of nature-themed crafts, performances, cookies, hot chocolate, and a visit from Mrs. Claus. This event will also include the traditional HoHoHo Hike, a unique and fun “Santa-hunt” where you will hike the Preserve looking for the elusive visitor in red, meeting many of nature’s creatures along the way. Wacky Tacky Light Tour – Birmingham

Dress up in your tackiest Christmas attire and get ready for a 2-hour tour of the best tacky Christmas lights Birmingham has to offer. It’s wacky, it’s tacky, and most importantly, it supports a good cause – a fundraiser for Gross Out Camp scholarships. The light tours will be held on December 12, 17, and 19, 2024. Cullman Christkindlmarkt – Cullman

The Cullman Christkindlmarkt is a cherished tradition that takes place in the heart of downtown Cullman and draws inspiration from Germany’s historic markets, infusing them with welcoming spirits of Southern hospitality. Guests can take part in the many activities Christkindlmarkt will include like ice skating, arts and crafts, artisan workshops, a Christmas carousel, Christkindl Express, alpine tubing, and Alabama’s largest Ferris Wheel. The 19th Annual Sportsman Lake Park Winter Wonderland Christmas Light Display in Cullman, Alabama, began on November 19th and will be held through December 30th. Hours are 5:00pm to 9:30pm. Admission is $10 cash per vehicle. Returning this year is the Christmas train, horse and carriage rides, snow machine, photo booth, hot chocolate, and much more. Cullman County Sherriff’s Rodeo – Cullman

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office is proud to present our annual Cullman County Sheriff’s Office Rodeo which is held every December at the Cullman County Agriculture and Trade Center. The rodeo will once again provide great family entertainment for all those who come and watch the rodeo events like Bareback Riding, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, and much more. The event will also have one of the best rodeo clowns in the business on hand as well as face painting, a Ladies Envelope Scramble, and other door prizes. The proceeds from the rodeo help to buy much needed equipment for the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office such as vest carriers, tasers, and other safety equipment. Join Decatur-Morgan County Tourism for a heartwarming holiday event, Cocoa in MoCo. This FREE event will offer cookies & Hot Cocoa, Ornament Making & Christmas Crafts for the kids, Letters to Santa to send off your wish list, and Photos with Santa for a minimum donation of $5. All Donations collected will go to benefit a family from our community nominated by the Hospitality Association to help them this holiday season. Let it Snow – Gadsden

Imagination Place Museum welcomes children who will love playing in our “snow” (a non-toxic polymer substance that looks and feels like real snow). Let it Snow started at the Imagination Place Museum on November 2, 2024, and will be held until March 1, 2025. The area is designed for toddlers through 4th graders and includes an ice castle bounce house, a slide, and several climbing obstacles. Christmas at the Falls – Gadsden

Celebrate the holiday season with Noccalula Falls and the City of Gadsden at Christmas at the Falls. The event will start November 22, 2024, through January 4, 2025. There will be millions of lights on the paths winding throughout Noccalula Park as well as holiday displays and decorations. Enjoy the sparkling lights throughout the park, with spectacular views from the paved walking trails or from the vantage of a ride on the park’s train. Christmas on the Coosa – Gadsden

The City of Gadsden presents “Christmas on the Coosa” – a magical, 25-day ice skating winter wonderland from November 29, 2024, through January 4, 2025. The outdoor winter wonderland will include a real ice-skating rink, food trucks, Frosty’s cocktail bar, small business shopping vendors and rocking chairs next to cozy firepits. Miracle on 34th Street – Gadsden

The Theatre of Gadsden proudly presents the reenactment of Miracle on 34th Street. This live theatre performance is put on by a volunteer cast reenacting the classic tale of Kris Kringle, a fat, white-bearded gentleman claiming to be the real Santa Claus. He is so good at his job that the children all believe him to be the real Santa Clause. Further, he helps spread a wave of love throughout New York City, fostering camaraderie between Macy’s and Gimbel’s Department Stores, giving happiness to a 6-year-old girl and bringing love to a divorced, cynical single mother. Join in on the fun at the annual Santa Drop at the World Famous Flora-Bama. Watch Santa skydive onto our white sandy beaches then jump in line at the Tent for Santa pictures. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still sit on Santa’s lap and ask for whatever you want. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., before Santa arrives at 12:30 p.m., there will be kids’ crafts, games, live music featuring holiday tunes, face painting, juice, and sweet treats – best of all, it’s all free. The Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade – Gulf Shores

Come by LuLu’s for a magical night on the Waterway Village with LuLu’s Lighted Boat Parade. Celebrate the holidays in Gulf Coast style with brightly decorated boats to light the night. Arrive early if you want a table and stick around for the festivities. The boats will leave LuLu’s Gulf Shores and Homeport Marina at 4:00 p.m. at dusk and head to the Wharf in Orange Beach. The Flora-Bama Polar Bear Dip is the event of New Year’s Day along the gulf coast. Groups and families gather in costumes, swimsuits, and some evenin wet suits to feel the brisk saltwater on their faces. Take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico at high noon. Festival of Trees – Guntersville

Visit the Guntersville Museum to check out the beautifully decorated Festival of Trees any time from November 21, 2024, through January 5, 2025. Christmas trees are lined up and decorated by theme by different businesses and organizations from the community. Guests can also enjoy the art exhibition: Contemporary Art of Annette Brewer. Governor’s Mansion Candlelight Tour – Montgomery

On two Monday nights in December, December 9 and December 16, the Governor’s Mansion will open for candlelight tours. Visitors can view the Governor’s Mansion holiday decor and enjoy live choir performances. During the tours, rooms open to the public feature holiday decor by volunteer designers from around the state. While each room displays a different decorating style, all showcase a classic and charming Christmas look.

Experience the joy of the season at Holidays on The Plaza, featuring an ice-skating rink and holiday-themed activities.
