Third-ranked Piedmont picks up first perfect regular season since 2016 in rout at Glencoe

GLENCOE – The Class 3A, No. 3 Piedmont Bulldogs picked up their first undefeated regular football season since 2016 after earning a 48-10 Class 3A Region 6 win at Glencoe on Friday night.

Cole Wilson completed 14 of 19 pass attempts for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Rollie Pinto had six catches for 130 yards and a score. Ishmael Bethel caught four passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

Jaxon Howard led the Bulldog ground game with 72 yards on seven carries and a score. Brodie Homesley added 62 yards on eight totes. Cole Austin scored on a 46-yard touchdown run, and Hayes Gunn ran for a pair of scores from a yard and 6 yards.

Piedmont (10-0) built a 20-0 lead in the second quarter. Glencoe scored right before halftime on Connor Montgomery’s 35-yard field goal to make it 20-3 Bulldogs at intermission.

Piedmont scored 21 more unanswered points in the third quarter and early in the fourth. Jake Boggs ended the Yellow Jackets’ scoring drought with a 34-yard touchdown run with 5:28 remaining in the game.

Boggs had 94 yards on 14 carries, and Bronner McMurray also had 94 yards on 16 totes. Hayden Watson finished with 52 yards on 13 carries for the Yellow Jackets who closed out their season at 2-8.

Piedmont will host Collinsville in the first round of the 3A state playoffs on Friday.
