HOOVER – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors finished fourth in the Class 4A North Volleyball Super Regional at Hoover’s Finley Center on Thursday.
Cherokee County (42-15) went the distance against Madison County but ultimately fell in five sets. The scores were 25-21, 17-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 6-15. The Lady Warriors then dropped a four-set match to Central Florence in the third-place match. Those scores were 25-23, 20-25, 24-26 and 22-25.
For the day, Macy Lea collected 68 assists, 24 digs, two kills and a block. Nevaeh Gaidurgis delivered 32 kills, 26 digs, four aces and two blocks. Ava Haygood contributed 18 kills, 21 digs, a block and an assist. Jolie Alexander added 19 kills, nine digs, six blocks, two aces and an assist.
Lilly Shaw accumulated 17 kills, five digs and three blocks. Ellisan Givens posted 57 digs, five aces and five assists. Jesslyn Hincy had 22 digs. Raegan Garmany came away with five kills, six blocks, six digs and an assist. Libby Curry finished with five digs, two aces and an assist.
Cherokee County will battle South Super Regional champion Prattville Christian at noon on Tuesday at the Birmingham CrossPlex in the 4A state tournament.
