Spring Garden clinches another berth in Class 1A state volleyball tournament

HOOVER – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers will get a shot at defending their Class 1A state volleyball title.

The Lady Panthers swept Brilliant and Athens Bible in the North Super Regional at Hoover’s Finley Center on Thursday. They opened the regional with a 25-13, 25-8, 25-9 win over Brilliant, then reached the state tournament with a 25-8, 25-14, 25-10 victory over Athens Bible.

In the win over Brilliant, Ace Austin posted 17 kills, four digs, two aces, an assist and a block. Maggie Jarrett added six kills, three aces and two digs. Avery Steward managed 28 assists, two digs and an ace.

Olivia Law earned a kill, a dig, an ace and a block. Kristen Lewis came away with five digs and two aces. Montana Highfield had three kills and a dig. Chloe Fennell delivered two kills and a block. Belle Bussler finished with a dig,

Austin led Spring Garden with 19 kills, seven digs and an ace against Athens Bible. Jarrett contributed seven kills and an ace. Steward collected 28 assists, three digs and an ace.

Law managed four kills, five digs, three aces and an assist. Lewis had an ace. Highfield finished with two digs, two aces, an assist and a kill.

Spring Garden will face Ider in the Class 1A North Super Regional semifinal on Friday at 9:30 a.m.
