Gaylesville falls short at Ragland 27-20

RAGLAND – The Gaylesville Trojans had an opportunity to make things interesting for the fourth and final playoff spot from Class 1A Region 8 with a win at Ragland on Friday night, but fell short by the final of 27-20.

The Trojans (3-5, 1-4) held an 8-6 halftime advantage, but Ragland (4-4, 3-2) outscored Gaylesville in the second half 21-12 for the final.

Alex Baty led the Trojans with 152 yards on 16 carries with a pair of touchdowns. He also posted 13 tackles defense.  Jack Sentell added 82 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown. He also registered eight tackles.

Hunter Allmond hit on 4 of 6 pass attempts for 37 yards and tallied 15 tackles on defense. Aydn Heinrich caught three of those passes for 27 yards and had 11 tackles on defense.

Timmy Dawson and Jared Butts both had nine tackles. Butts also earned a pair of sacks. Karrson Ray finished with eight tackles.

Gaylesville closes out region play and the regular season this Friday at home against Woodville.
