COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers put an end to their two-game skid with their fourth shutout of the season with a 56-0 Class 3A Region 8 victory over Brindlee Mountain on homecoming Friday night.
Quintavious Rogers set the tone for the Panthers (5-3, 3-3). He returned the opening kickoff 69 yards to the 8-yard line, where Mason McAteer ran in for a touchdown on the first offensive play from scrimmage. Jan Segura’s extra point provided the Panthers a 7-0 advantage.
Rogers, who had 80 yards on just four carries, extended Collinsville’s lead on his 8-yard touchdown run to make it 13-0 Panthers with 9:50 to go in the first.
Rogers added a 19-yard score at the 5:24 mark for his final touchdown of the night. This one gave Collinsville a 19-0 edge.
McAteer threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Lang, and Kyler Beene closed out the first quarter scoring with a 17-yard touchdown run to give the Panthers a 33-0 lead.
McAteer connected with Beene on a 66-yard scoring strike to open the second-quarter scoring. Segura added a 38-yard field goal just before halftime to put Collinsville up 43-0.
Bentley Jones tossed a 36-yard touchdown pass to Sylas Adams in the third quarter. The Panthers capped the game with a touchdown in the fourth for the final.
