The Spring Garden Panthers and Piedmont Bulldogs both remained unbeaten in the high school football season following their impressive wins over Appalachian and Locust Fork respectively last Friday.

The Panthers cruised to a 46-21 victory over Appalachian to move to 7-0, while Piedmont crushed previously unbeaten Locust Fork 61-14 to improve to 6-0.

Following their dominating wins last Friday, both teams moved up a spot in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.

Class 1A Spring Garden is now ranked fourth while Class 3A Piedmont is third. Spring Garden is at Gaylesville (3-3) on Friday night, while Piedmont entertains J.B. Pennington (5-2).

Class 4A Cherokee County (6-1) is also coming off an impressive 14-0 victory over Anniston and maintained its No. 3 ranking. The Warriors travel to Hokes Bluff (5-1) on Friday.
