Cedar Bluff loses nail biter at Pleasant Valley 20-19

PLEASANT VALLEY – Bryson Teague ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. He also added 57 yards through the air, but they weren’t enough to lead Cedar Bluff past Pleasant Valley on Friday night.

Jaden Sparks scored the game’s final touchdown on a 2-yard run and the ensuing 2-point conversion to lift Pleasant Valley to a 20-19 victory in Class 2A Region 7 football action. The game marked Cedar Bluff’s second one-point loss this season.

Sparks finished with 50 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown. He also completed 7 of 15 pass attempts for 150 yards and two scores for the Raiders (5-2, 2-1).

Hunter Jenkins added 57 yards on 13 carries for Cedar Bluff (2-5, 2-2). He also accumulated 11 tackles on defense, including two for loss. Caleb Edmondson led the Tiger defense with 14 stops, including one for loss. Hayden Tucker finished with nine tackles.

Kadien Tracy tallied 31 yards on four carries with a touchdown for the Tigers.

Cedar Bluff travels to top-ranked Pisgah on Friday.
