Man Causes School Lockdown in Georgia

A 35-year-old man out of Rome, Georgia – is now facing multiple charges for causing a lockdown at Rome High and Rome Middle Schools.

Dalton Reese Clay pointed a BB gun resembling an AR-15 rifle at another driver, then fled from police, reaching an estimated 95 mph, on Veterans Memorial Highway.  He drove erratically in school traffic on Wolf Drive, thereby prompting a lockdown.  Clay abandoned his vehicle and ran into the woods – where he was found with a large machete.

He is charged with multiple offenses, including eluding police, carrying a weapon on school grounds, disrupting school activities, assault, reckless driving and obstruction of officers.
