Collinsville Man Arrested on Attempted Child Abduction Charges

On September 27th the Collinsville Police Department was dispatched to the area of the Piggly Wiggly Supermarket and Rains Court Apartments – regarding an attempted child abduction.  The Collinsville Police Department arrived on scene and began speaking to the juvenile victim, and family members.  DeKalb County Investigators were notified and soon arrived on scene – then began to interview family members – and possible witnesses – where a description of the offender was determined.

On September 29th, the Collinsville Police Department responded to the apartments on Truman Lane on an unrelated call.  While speaking with subjects on the scene, a Collinsville Police Officer was able to determine that one of the subjects matched the description of the offender from the incident a couple of days prior.

DeKalb County Investigators arrived on the scene, and began speaking to the subject.  The man, identified as 29 year old Cordell Quenton Brand of Gadsden – was arrested for Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs and he was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center.  After interviewing Brand at the Detention Center it was soon determined by DeKalb County Investigators that HE WAS the offender who grabbed the juvenile victim.

Brand was also charged with Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree – he is awaiting a hearing for his bond to be set for that charge.
